Bird & Bird boosts its international Dispute Resolution Group with the appointment of Jalal El Ahdab as partner in Paris. Jalal is a well-known international arbitration lawyer and joins from Ginestie, Magellan, Paley-Vincent in Paris where he was a partner. His practice covers international business law, notably in the Middle East, Africa and Europe, and more specifically in the field of international litigation and foreign investments. He has strong expertise in managing international disputes and particularly arbitrations regarding shareholders and securities suits, class actions, breach of negotiations and bank guarantees.

Clifford Chance has announced the hire of legal technology entrepreneur Jeroen Plink as CEO of Clifford Chance Applied Solutions. Jeroen will be based in Clifford Chance’s New York office, though his focus, and that of his team, will be global. White & Case LLP has expanded its Global Commercial Litigation Practice with the addition of Laura Durrant as a new partner in London. Durrant arrives at White & Case from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), where she spent more than eight years and was most recently Head of Litigation & Investigations. In that role, she took the lead on contentious regulatory and financial crime issues, working with the bank’s businesses globally across a range of issues including actual and threatened litigation, business-as-usual but higher risk supervisory reviews and various enforcement and internal investigations. Durrant also advised on investigations, enforcements and prosecutions by authorities in the US, Europe and Asia.
