Our client is a renewable energy company that recognizes how precious our planet is. They are developing large-scale green energy projects with a vision to offer green investment opportunities and access to clean energy across Romania. With international expertise at their holding company level and a demonstrated local track record of over a decade, they have a strong reputation across multiple areas including renewable energy, construction & development, agriculture, property and investment management and new technologies in this space. 

They will appoint an experienced legal professional to be based in Bucharest. Working in close cooperation with the transactions team, you will be exposed to working with investors, developers, contractors, government agencies, sponsors and lenders. You will learn quickly to understand the financial, policy and regulatory challenges in driving renewable energy projects to completion. A background in Real Estate (planning/projects) would be most helpful. If you had additional sector expertise in Energy this would be a plus. Within energy, such experience could include: Regulatory, electricity licensing, Power Purchase Agreements (PPS.s), Project finance, Construction, procurement, grid connection, environmental matters, to name a few. A candidate interested in key technologies at the heart of renewable energy projects would be welcome to this team. 

Your Profile: 

You will be a committed attorney and aspire to be integral to our client’s success and aim to reach their strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have: 

  • A Romanian law degree and will be qualified in Romania. 
  • A minimum of 3+ years’ experience with a relevant track record in providing legal advice within a law firm environment or in-house international companies.
  • Interest in analysing complex challenges and developing appropriate solutions that are not explicitly legal focused but also commercial and strategic.
  • Diplomacy and communication skills to handle inquiries with Romanian authorities and ability to travel to meet with them. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Romanian.
  • Driving license and willing to drive/travel.

Ideally you will have experience in:

  • Real Estate law (planning/projects) would be most helpful.
  • Corporate / M&A and generally reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of contract documentation such as commercial agreements, permits, authorisations, etc,
  • Exposure to the energy industry and projects is a plus. Within energy, such experience could include: Regulatory, electricity licensing, Power Purchase Agreements (PPS.s), Project finance, Construction, procurement, grid connection, environmental matters, to name a few. A candidate interested in key technologies at the heart of renewable energy projects would be welcome to this team.
  • A Technology lawyer with some background in the above areas and willing to learn can also be considered.

The role is hybrid office: three days in the office in Bucharest and 2 remotes. The work is very supportive to work/life balance, generally 9 – 5.
