Our client, a leading independent Slovak law firm with a top-ranked M&A team and a growing international client base, is seeking a commercially minded and experienced Senior Associate or Counsel to join its Corporate/M&A practice in Bratislava. This is a senior strategic hire designed to further strengthen the firm’s position in high-value domestic and cross-border transactions.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will assume a leadership role within the M&A team, managing mid- to large-scale deals and mentoring junior colleagues. This position combines significant client-facing responsibilities with active involvement in business development and team growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex M&A and corporate transactions from term sheet through closing.
  • Advise clients on legal structuring, due diligence, negotiations, and documentation.
  • Prepare and negotiate SPAs, shareholders’ agreements, and other key contracts.
  • Oversee deal execution and supervise junior associates as part of the transaction team.
  • Provide high-quality legal advice in both Slovak and English.
  • Engage in strategic firm initiatives, including client development and knowledge sharing.

Candidate Profile

  • Slovak-qualified lawyer with at least 5 – 10 years of legal experience.
  • Strong technical command of Slovak corporate and commercial law, including mergers, spin-offs, and business sales.
  • Proven ability to independently manage all key stages of M&A deals:
    • Term Sheets / LoIs / HoTs
    • Legal Due Diligence
    • SPAs & Shareholders’ Agreements
    • Signing and Closing processes
  • Fluent in Slovak and English, with excellent drafting and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior associates and work with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with private equity, joint venture structures, and cross-border M&A.
  • Technological proficiency and openness to using legal tech tools and digital workflows.
